Virgil van Dijk offers update on Liverpool contract talks amid interest from Bayern Munich and Saudi Arabia

The Dutch defender has been recently linked with a move to German giants, Bayern Munich, who are looking to rebuild their squad after missing out on the Bundesliga title for the first time since 2013. Van Dijk has now offered an update with regards to his contract extension with his current deal set to run out at the end of next season.

Speaking to the media, Van Dijk told reporters: "I think there is nothing for me to discuss because there is no news, I think the club is very much busy with who is going to be the new manager and that is the main focus.

"Like I said I am very happy here, I love the club and you can see that as well. It’s a big part of my life already, and that is all I can say.

"The focus is now on the last two and then the club will focus on who the new manager is and there will be a big transition and I am part of that."

Since joining the club in 2018 from Southampton, Van Dijk has become one of the best central defenders in the world and has naturally invited a lot of attention from clubs trying to lure him away. With Klopp set to leave the club, the future of the defender has been in the spotlight with Saudi Pro League clubs also linked with the Dutchman.

It seems highly unlikely that Van Dijk will leave the Reds this summer as they look to transition from Klopp to incoming boss Arne Slot. However, if he does not commit to a new contract at Anfield he will be able to leave on a free transfer in 2025.
