Official word! Ted Lasso is 'coaching a women's team' as Jason Sudeikis delivers huge update on Season 4 of hit Apple TV+ show

It had been speculated on for some time, as part of a reboot for the Apple TV+ show, that characters and storylines would be taken in a new direction when the award-winning series returns to streaming platforms around the world.

A move into the women’s game for Lasso had been mooted, with title character and writer Sudeikis confirming that is the case. He continues to play production cards close to his chest, but admits that the affable American coach is on his way back.

Sudeikis has told the New Heights podcast hosted by Kelce brothers Travis and Jason: "We’re writing Season 4 now. That’s the official word. Ted’s coaching a women’s team, so that’s it." A global fan base has been longing for that confirmation.

Sudeikis was giving little else away, saying when asked if Lasso will be working in the United States or returning to AFC Richmond: "That’s too many questions." He jokingly added when being quizzed on finer details of Season 4: "It’s only cause I don’t know!"

Leading members of the original Ted Lasso cast and crew have spoken of their excitement at reprising popular roles. With a women’s team about to be introduced, several new stars are expected to join what has already been an emotional rollercoaster.
