Basler has stirred speculation over Eberl’s future, claiming Bayern already have a successor lined up: “I've heard from various circles that they're almost certain to have reached some sort of agreement with Markus Krosche for the new season. I just wanted to put that out there, very slowly and discreetly.”
He also criticised Bayern’s recent efforts in the transfer market saying: “The transfer policy at FC Bayern is, of course, a bit chaotic. They want players, but then they don't get them, so they prefer to go somewhere else, and so on. Internationally, things haven't really worked out either. They're not particularly satisfied.”
He didn’t place all the blame on Eberl, though pointing to earlier decisions made under Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic: “It all started with Kahn and Salihamidzic. It started a bit there, with big salaries being paid and long contracts being signed.”
