Liverpool flop lined up to join Mason Greenwood at Marseille after failing to play a single minute for Fiorentina in Serie A this season

The Ligue 1 outfit are eager to bring more experience into their squad, while offering greater depth to head coach Roberto De Zerbi. Ex-Brazil international Arthur is, according to Calciomercato, said to be a player that the French side have their eye on.

Arthur could become available as a free agent as he has failed to play a single minute for Fiorentina in the 2024-25 campaign. He appeared to have got his career back on track last term during an initial loan spell with the Viola from Serie A rivals Juventus.

Marseille snapped up France international Adrien Rabiot when he was released by the Bianconeri and have been linked with World Cup winner Paul Pogba. Arthur is another option that could be open to taking on a new challenge.

The 28-year-old midfielder made just one appearance for Liverpool during his spell at Anfield in 2022-23. He has slipped down another pecking order but may be offered the chance to rekindle a lost spark by joining Greenwood and Co at Stade Velodrome.
