THE BIGGER PICTURE
According to The Times, freezing fog prevented the aircraft carrying Liverpool’s squad back to the North West from reaching John Lennon Airport. Instead, they were forced to land in Birmingham. A coach and cars were then scrambled to get players up to Merseyside.
DID YOU KNOW?
Arne Slot’s squad did not arrive in Liverpool until the early hours of Thursday morning, meaning that a training session scheduled for a few hours later had to be postponed. Said events will have done little to lift the mood in the Reds camp.

Liverpool suffered a rare defeat at Tottenham, as they went down 1-0 on the night. They were left aggrieved at seeing Lucas Bergvall escape a second yellow card for a late challenge in the second half of that game, allowing him to go on and score the winner.
WHAT NEXT FOR LIVERPOOL?
Slot’s plans will not have been too badly hit by midweek disruption, with an FA Cup third-round clash with League Two outfit Accrington Stanley next on the agenda. The Reds will rotate heavily in that fixture, before then facing Nottingham Forest in the Premier League next Tuesday.
