📝 Bio: I have been a sports lover for as long as I can remember. After finding out I wasn't good enough to play sports professionally, I deemed the next best thing to do was to write about it. I received a BA (Honours) degree from the University of Birmingham in 2013, and after five years in news journalism, I have worked in sports journalism for the last five years.

My Football Story: My dad grew up supporting Leeds United, and as I worshipped the big man, I followed in his footsteps - despite the majority of my wider family cheering for Manchester United. I became a diehard Leeds fan when we got relegated to League One in the late 2000s, the lowest point in the club's history. This club may lead to my early demise, but Leeds can also bring me a lot of unabashed joy, along with uncontrolled rage.
🎯 Areas of Expertise:

  • The highs and lows of Leeds United
  • Brighton and Hove Albion
  • Premier League and Championship analysis

🌟 Favourite Footballing Memory: As a fan, wildly celebrating Leeds' return to the Premier League after 16 years in 2020. As a player, I got the chance to play at Brighton's Amex Stadium a couple of years after having hip surgery. Tackling an opponent and then shouting 'Have it!' as the ball flew into the stands was a personal highlight.

Former Manchester City player Joey Barton has received a suspended sentence for 'grossly offensive' social media posts to football pundits Eni Aluko and Lucy Ward and broadcaster Jeremy Vine. The 43-year-old was handed a six-month prison sentence, which is suspended for 18 months. The ex-Newcastle United man claims that he "never meant to hurt anyone" with his electronic communications.

  2. Real Madrid chiefs hold talks over Alonso's future after setback

Real Madrid figureheads have reportedly held talks over Xabi Alonso's future after a damaging 2-0 loss to Celta Vigo. Los Blancos suffered a disappointing home defeat, which included red cards to Fran Garcia and Alvaro Carreras, putting them further behind La Liga leaders Barcelona. Now, speculation is mounting that their upcoming Champions League clash with Manchester City could be pivotal for the 44-year-old.

  3. Shaw rescues unconvincing Man City to extend WSL lead

Khadija Shaw's brace secured Manchester City an unconvincing 3-0 victory at a resolute Leicester City to extend their lead at the top of the Women's Super League. The City talisman was so wasteful in front of goal before bagging two late efforts in the last 15 minutes on Sunday. And substitute Kerolin capped off a fine cameo with a smart finish in second-half stoppage time to ensure City's best-ever start to a WSL season.

  4. Slot handed big blow as Liverpool ace set for suspension

Arne Slot has been handed another blow as one of his key Liverpool players is set to serve a one-match ban after picking up a booking in the 3-3 draw at Leeds United. The Reds looked set to claim an important three points at Elland Road but Ao Tanaka's stoppage-time equaliser scuppered those hopes. Now, the Merseyside outfit will not be able to call on one of their defenders for the Premier League trip to Brighton next weekend.

  5. Salah told his Liverpool criticism 'doesn't stack up'

Mohamed Salah has been told his complaints that Liverpool have "thrown him under the bus" after another first-team omission "don't stack up". The Egypt international dropped a bombshell interview after his side's 3-3 draw with Leeds United on Saturday, throwing his Anfield future into question. Now, ex-Reds ace Danny Murphy has criticised the 33-year-old for his "emotional response".

  6. Salah slammed as 'embarrassing' after Liverpool criticism

Mohamed Salah's critical comments about Liverpool and manager Arne Slot have been slammed as "embarrassing". After the 33-year-old was an unused substitute in his side's 3-3 draw at Leeds United on Saturday, he claimed he had been "thrown under the bus" by the Reds. However, ex-Celtic striker Chris Sutton believes the Egypt international has "disrespected" his team-mates with his remarks.

  1. Charlton 'devastated' after fan dies and match abandoned

The Championship side have confirmed that a supporter has tragically died following a medical emergency at The Valley on Saturday afternoon. The fixture between Charlton Athletic and Portsmouth was halted in the 12th minute while staff dealt with the incident. After a delay, referee Matthew Donohue told the players to return to the dressing rooms, and the match was later called off.

  2. Blackstenius saves the day for sloppy Arsenal

Stina Blackstenius came to the rescue as a beleaguered Arsenal limped to a nervy 2-1 win over Women's Super League basement side Liverpool on Saturday. Former Reds star Olivia Smith banged in a sublime individual goal before Beata Olsson levelled up for a well-earned first-half equaliser. The Gunners were poor for lengthy spells but substitute Blackstenius' quality finish gave the home fans a huge sigh of relief.

  3. Maresca slams Chelsea ace & dismisses their lack of experience

Enzo Maresca has singled out one Chelsea player following their dismal 3-1 loss to lowly Leeds United. The Blues came into the Elland Road clash off the back of a 3-0 win over Barcelona and a 1-1 draw with Arsenal - a game where they were a man down for more than 45 minutes. Although they were beaten by Daniel Farke's side in midweek, Maresca doesn't think their lack of experience had much to do with it.

  4. Struggling Isak 'expected to do much more' at Liverpool

Alexander Isak has admitted he expected to do "much more" at Liverpool after a slow start to life at Anfield. The striker joined the Reds from Newcastle United for a Premier League record fee of £125 million ($167m) but so far he has failed to fire. The Swedish international also admits that injuries have hampered his progress, and he has never felt at 100 per cent so far.

  5. Ancelotti doesn't 'owe' Neymar World Cup squad place

Carlo Ancelotti says he doesn't "owe" anyone a place in his Brazil 2026 World Cup squad after once again being asked about Santos star Neymar's prospects. The Brazil icon has repeatedly been left out of recent national squads due to injury issues, but after scoring a hat-trick for his club last time out, speculation over his World Cup place is intensifying. However, the Italian made it clear he will not be pressured into certain picks.

  6. England boss Tuchel takes aim at 2026 World Cup draw ceremony

England boss Thomas Tuchel has hinted that the glitz and glamour of the 2026 World Cup ceremony was rather unnecessary. The Three Lions eventually found out that they will face Croatia, Ghana, and Panama at next year's competition in North America. However, those watching the draw had to wait a long time to find out the results, something Tuchel believes they could have "done without".

  7. Ghana boss urges Semenyo to leave Bournemouth amid transfer links

Ghana boss Otto Addo has urged Antoine Semenyo to take the "next step" and leave Bournemouth amid links with Liverpool and Manchester City. The 25-year-old has a £65 million ($87m) release clause, which is only active until a specific date in the January transfer window. As teams consider a move for him, his national manager thinks it is "natural" for the flying winger to secure a transfer away.

  8. Donnarumma blasted for 'fake injury' as Farke calls for rule change

Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has accused Gianluigi Donnarumma of "faking" an injury to allow Pep Guardiola to deliver a Manchester City team talk when the game was hanging in the balance. The Italian asked for treatment in the second half when Leeds had made it 2-1 and were in the ascendancy. The visitors got it back to 2-2 before Phil Foden's stoppage-time winner secured all three points on Saturday at the Etihad.
