Al-Nassr headed into the match 1-0 down from the first leg. Two goals from Soufiane Rahimi then put Al Ain 3-0 ahead on aggregate, although the Saudi side hit back with an effort from Abdulrahman Ghareeb, an own goal and an Alex Telles strike to level at 3-3 and force extra-time. The visitors struck again in extra-time but were pegged back from the penalty spot by Ronaldo. The 4-4 draw saw the game eventually decided by spot-kicks with Al-Ain progressing after emerging victorious from the shoot-out.
