Tottenham to hijack Chelsea's Xavi Simons deal?! Spurs go back in for RB Leipzig star after missing out on Eberechi Eze with move to London rivals stalling

Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to hijack Chelsea's move for Xavi Simons after missing out on signing Eberechi Eze, who joined their arch-rivals Arsenal. The Blues have been interested in Simons for quite some time now, while the Dutch international is also keen on moving to Stamford Bridge. However, with Chelsea also showing interest in Fermin Lopez, Spurs could swoop in and secure Simons' transfer.

  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    According to The Telegraph, Tottenham have held discussions over submitting a bid with RB Leipzig to sign Simons this summer, despite the Dutch international being closely linked with a move to Chelsea. Spurs are desperate to add a new playmaker to their squad before the transfer window closes next Monday, after missing out on Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    Simons wants to leave RB Leipzig this summer, with his preferred destination being Chelsea, however, the Blues will not be able to complete his signing unless they offload Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku. For now, talks have stalled between the Bundesliga side and the Blues and Spurs want to take advantage of the situation and swoop in and secure a transfer for the 22-year-old.
