Revealed: Six clubs tussling for Man City outcast Kalvin Phillips as Barcelona emerge as surprise transfer suitors

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have joined the race to sign the England international as he looks for an escape from a torrid time at City. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace and West Ham have been monitoring his situation and long-term admirers Newcastle and Juventus are still in for him, The Telegraph reports.

Newcastle were said to be preparing to walk out of talks with City due to the terms of the Premier League champions' demands. The Magpies felt the loan fee City wanted was too high and did not want a deal that included an obligation to buy. Juventus were also finding it tough to reach an agreement with his club, but both teams are still hopeful of a deal.

Phillips is determined to leave City after failing to force his way into Pep Guardiola's regular line-up since joining from Leeds in 2022. He has made just 31 appearances in all competitions in that time, including only 10 for the world, European and English champions this season.

Phillips' future is expected to be decided in the next week and the teams circling for him will hope to persuade City to let him go and convince the 28-year-old to join them before the end of the month.
