Lionel Messi still yet to decide if he will play for Argentina at 2026 World Cup amid ongoing fitness issues at Inter Miami

According to Ole, Messi is not one hundred per cent certain of competing at the 2026 World Cup in North America as he continues to struggle with his fitness. Injuries have affected Messi's game time at Inter Miami, as the 38-year-old's future with the national team remains uncertain.

Speaking on Messi's future, a source close to the Inter Miami star told Ole, "Always calm and without rushing, because the most important thing for him is how he feels at any given moment."

When asked if the veteran Argentine would contest at the World Cup next year, the source said: "The decision is very personal, and he'll make it when he thinks it's the right time."

Despite his fitness issue, the report adds that Messi still has the same enthusiasm while representing La Albiceleste. For Inter Miami in this MLS season, the former Barcelona star has scored 18 goals and provided 10 assists in the league. Argentina are scheduled to play six international games in 2025, and if the captain appears in all of those games, he will be one match shy of completing 200 international appearances for his country.

For now, Messi remains focused on guiding Inter Miami to another trophy as the club next face Orlando City on Thursday in a Leagues Cup semi-final clash.
