Harry Kane planning to stay at Bayern Munich for 'many years' as ex-Tottenham star explains main reason he pushed for transfer to Allianz Arena

Kane swapped Tottenham for Bayern last summer in a £82 million ($100m) move and since then he has scored 43 goals in 43 games. While the Bavarians may yet slump to their first trophyless season since 2012, the England captain does not regret his decision and playing in the biggest occasions, such as their 2-2 Champions League semi-final draw with Real Madrid on Tuesday, is what tempted him to join in the first place.

He told TNT Sports: "It’s been a good season so far but it’s all about the next game, the big game next week away from home in Real Madrid. Everything we are fighting for this year is in this competition so you’ve just got to find a way to get it done. I’m here for many years, it’s not just a one-off year I’ve come for, but of course the expectation at the start of the year was to win trophies. It hasn’t gone our way in the Bundesliga and cup but the Champions League is the biggest one of them all. This is exactly why I came, I want to play in these big games, these big moments and there’s no bigger than next week away from home.”

While the striker is enjoying his time at Bayern, this season will be seen as a failure if they don't win the Champions League. They lost the Bundesliga to Bayer Leverkusen and suffered an early exit in the DFB-Pokal. For all of Kane's individual success, it may be overshadowed if they are unable to secure any silverware this term. However, the 30-year-old is likely to get more chances to win trophies in the years to come at the German giants.

Kane's Bayern return to Bundesliga action on Saturday away to Stuttgart, before facing off against Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League last four clash at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday, May 8, with a place in the final against either Paris Saint-Germain or Borussia Dortmund still very much up for grabs.
