Grand Slam transfer! Rafa Nadal offers to assist Real Madrid in Kylian Mbappe move but tennis legend rules out presidential bid at Santiago Bernabeu

The Liga giants have long been linked with a move for World Cup winner Mbappe. He is now approaching the end of his contract at Paris Saint-Germain, with no extension clause triggered, and is due to hit free agency in the summer of 2024.

Real are said to be piecing together a lucrative offer for the France international, but no switch to Spain has been agreed as yet. Nadal is willing to step in and help, with the 22-time Grand Slam winner telling Cadena COPE of recruitment at Santiago Bernabeu: “I would sign Kylian Mbappe for Real Madrid. Real Madrid have a super team, beyond the disaster of injuries this year. With Mbappe they would be even better, if I could contribute to the club in any way I would.”

Nadal has been following Real’s efforts closely in 2023-24 and has enjoyed watching Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham in action. He added when asked to pick a favourite between Brazilian and English superstars: “I will not choose, they’re both very good with different mentalities. I think Vinicius is spectacular and Jude Bellingham is incredible for what he has done since he came to Madrid at just 20 years old.”

There has been talk in the past of Nadal launching a bid for the presidency at Real Madrid, but he claims to have no intention of following in Florentino Perez’s footsteps any time soon. He said on that topic: “I am a fan for life but becoming the president of Real Madrid is not in my plans right now.”

Real have pulled five points clear at the top of the Liga table, as they seek to wrestle a domestic crown away from Clasico rivals Barcelona, and hold a narrow 1-0 lead over RB Leipzig in their Champions League last-16 encounter.
