David Beckham pens emotional thank you after Netflix documentary wins Emmy award as Man Utd legend misses glitzy ceremony

The Manchester United and England legend, who is now working with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami as co-owner of the MLS franchise, welcomed cameras into his world as the lid was lifted on his life away from football.

The show, which featured four episodes, aired on Netflix in 2023. Beckham and his former Spice Girls star wife Victoria figured prominently, as they discussed life operating under the brightest of spotlights. The production received rave reviews.

Beckham can now claim to be the star of an award-winning production, with Emmy recognition coming his way in the Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series category. He has posted on social media after being forced to miss a glitzy ceremony in Los Angeles due to other commitments: “So this happened last night. Emmy winners WOW! Having had cause for celebration away from the field, Beckham will be hoping to enjoy more on it in 2024. Inter Miami, with eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi ready to rejoin their ranks after injury, have already booked a play-off berth as they chase down Supporters’ Shield and MLS Cup honours.
