Chelsea make bizarre goalkeeper decision ahead of Club World Cup after Blues pull out of signing Mike Maignan from AC Milan

Chelsea have a deep pool of goalkeepers to choose from but were still on the verge of recruiting another in Maignan ahead of the Club World Cup in America. The Blues eventually pulled out of the deal, leading many fans to believe Petrovic would get his chance, having impressed on loan at Strasbourg. However, the Serbian has been left out of Enzo Maresca's squad entirely.

Instead, the former Leicester boss has included Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen and Mike Penders to travel across the Atlantic Ocean despite the goalkeeper position causing a huge number of problems across Chelsea's Premier League campaign in 2024-25.

Petrovic made 31 appearances across all competitions in France last season, conceding just 38 goals and keeping 10 clean sheets. Keen-eyed Chelsea fans have been keeping close tabs on the 25-year-old and believe he should be given a shot between the sticks.

With Petrovic being left out of the Club World Cup contingency, there is every chance he may look for another move away from Chelsea this summer.
