'He's doing a brilliant job' - Erik ten Hag receives surprise backing from ex-Man Utd manager as INEOS prepare to make decision on Dutchman's future

Manchester United have endured a very poor start to the new season as they find themselves 14th in the Premier League after seven matches. According to FourFourTwo, the series of poor results has prompted the ownership to shake things up, with INEOS chiefs reportedly holding a crunch emergency meeting on Tuesday to discuss a number of issues, including Ten Hag's future at Old Trafford.

Amid speculation over the manager's future, former Red Devils and West Ham boss David Moyes has extended his support to Ten Hag. Moyes lauded the Dutch coach's "resilience" despite immense pressure and criticism from all quarters.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Moyes said: "I think he has shown brilliant resilience in the situation he is in. I think he should be credited for how well he's conducted himself. I don't see him ducking any questions or any media interviews which you people put forward to him.

"I think you have to give him great credit for that. But it is a job which is going to attract immense pressure, immense people talking. So I have to say, I think he is doing a brilliant job."

It remains to be seen if the 54-year-old former Ajax coach continues at the helm until the end of the October international break. United's next Premier League fixture is against Brentford on October 19.
