Wrexham saved by Arsenal loanee Arthur Okonkwo! Red Dragons stumble to drab Mansfield draw with Paul Mullin starved of service all night

  • Wrexham draw 0-0 at Mansfield
  • Visitors indebted to keeper Okonkwo
  • Welsh side second-best on the night

TELL ME MORE: Wrexham held on for a hard-fought point away to promotion-chasing rivals Mansfield at One Call Stadium on Tuesday night. In a game where the hosts dominated the possession and the chances, Phil Parkinson's men will have been relieved to have kept a clean sheet and a share of the spoils as they struggled to make an impression on Christy Pym's goal. Mansfield had 59% possession and 19 shots to the visitors' seven, and only one of those were on target. The result sees Wrexham stay ninth with 17 points from their opening 11 League Two matches. They are two points off the play-offs and a win off going into the automatic promotion spots.

THE MVP: Wrexham would have lost this game had it not been for the heroics of goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo. The Arsenal loanee denied Aaron Lewis and Davis Keillor-Dunn inside the first 30 minutes and shortly afterwards the 22-year-old pulled off a fantastic save to keep out Ollie Clarke's long-range strike, too. He impressed all night and kept them in the contest.

THE BIG LOSER: While this was a good point on the road, manager Phil Parkinson's tactics have come under fire from some fans on social media. While Mansfield tried to get the ball down and play, Wrexham were content to play the ball long to big striker Ollie Palmer or fellow forward Paul Mullin for a bit of magic. The latter, in particular, was short on service up front and was replaced in second-half stoppage time.
