He also guided the South Korea U-23 team to the semi-final stage of the 2002 Asian Games. In Vietnam, he has guided Vietnam U-23 to a runners-up finish in the 2018 AFC U-23 Championship, and the 2018 Asian Games semi-finals.

PLAYING STYLE

Park prefers to use three centre backs, and his team had success utilising it in the Asian Games and the AFC U-23 Championship, in which they faced more-formidable sides. Under the guidance of the Korean tactician, Vietnam focus more on building a solid defence and organising speedy counter attacks. This tactic requires a lot of energy, so the squad are composed of physically-fit players who can run throughout the 90 minutes, and then some.
