Commentary

That's all from the Emirates Stadium today, so thank you for joining us and goodbye!
Brighton go into the hat for tomorrow's EFL Cup fourth round draw, then host Aston Villa at the weekend. Meanwhile, Arsenal must attempt to get back to winning ways as a no-doubt more familiar XI face Wolves in their final fixture before the World Cup.
A clinical performance by Brighton sees the South Coast side through to the fourth round of the EFL Cup, as a much-changed Arsenal drop out in disappointing style. While the home side rattled off several shots in the 30 minutes either side of half-time, it was their visitors that capitalised on chances created through incisive counter-attacks - Mitoma's influence proving a turning point after the break. A day to forget for the Premier League leaders, then, but Brighton march on!
90' + 5' FULL-TIME: ARSENAL 1-3 BRIGHTON
90' + 3' An outswinging corner by Cedric picks out Holding near the penalty spot, but the Arsenal defender gets under the header and sends it spiralling high over the crossbar.
90' + 1' Mitoma steals the ball and Brighton break forward, with a low throughball from Gross then almost finding Welbeck before Hein claims the ball low down at the forward's feet.
89' It's all Arsenal now, as their first-team stars start to impose themselves. However, surely it's too late for a miraculous comeback, and Brighton seem set for a place in the fourth round draw.
87' A sweeping crossfield ball by Zinchenko is effortlessly controlled by Nelson on the right, and the winger progresses to the edge of the box before lashing a shot past the post. Steele was not too concerned, though, and another half-chance is spurned by Arsenal.
84' Arsenal flood forward again, and Jesus wins a free-kick around 30 yards from goal. From the set-piece - delivered towards the penalty spot - Holding's downward header lacks power and Steele makes a simple save.
82' SAVE! Alert, Steele keeps out Martinelli's low shot from inside the area, after the Arsenal forward was picked out by his fellow Brazilian, Jesus. The goalkeeper did well to close down the space, but it was a tame effort from Martinelli, who really should've scored!
G. Xhaka
A. Lokonga
80' Having been unsuccessful with several attempts at goal today, Sambi Lokonga is now replaced. The more experienced Xhaka is thrown on by Arteta.
D. Undav
J. Sarmiento
79' After making a big impression early on, Sarmiento's influence has faded. He is replaced by Undav for the final few minutes.
78' Gilmour makes a late intervention to keep Arsenal at bay, and concedes a corner. The Gunners are clearly determined to save this game, but the clock is ticking down towards the 90th minute.
P. Estupiñán
J. Enciso
76' De Zerbi calls upon more defensive cover: Enciso is replaced by a full-back, Estupinan.
73' Brighton escape, as several players scrap for the ball inside the visitors' box following an Arsenal corner, before they finally clear their lines.
Gabriel Jesus
Fábio Vieira
72' An attacking switch sees Vieira substituted; Jesus comes on in his place.
O. Zinchenko
K. Tierney
72' Arsenal make a change on the left, as Tierney makes way for Zinchenko.
B. Gilmour
Assist
71' Releasing the ball at just the right time, Gilmour picks out Lamptey's run with a precise low pass.
T. Lamptey
Goal
71' 3-1 BRIGHTON! A lightning break by Brighton opens up a two-goal lead at the Emirates! Gilmour slips through a tidy low ball for Lamptey to latch onto on the left side of the area, then the wing-back strides through to the six-yard box and slides the ball past Hein and into the back of the net! Are the Seagulls flying into the fourth round?
69' Arsenal have attempted 17 shots to Brighton's more modest total of six so far, but as things stand, it is the capital city club who are heading for an EFL Cup exit.
67' The shift from Arsenal dominance to Brighton control is complete. Having soaked up plenty of pressure for half-an-hour either side of the interval, De Zerbi's men are playing some neat football just inside their hosts' half.
65' Following a sustained spell of Arsenal pressure from almost the very start of the second half, Brighton's second goal has changed everything. The home side have lost all momentum and their subs are taking time to settle in. This suits the Seagulls perfectly.
Gabriel Magalhães
W. Saliba
63' Arteta also decides to take off World Cup-bound Saliba; Gabriel - not selected by Brazil - is brought on.
Gabriel Martinelli
Marquinhos
62' One Brazilian forward makes way for another, as Marquinhos is replaced by Martinelli.
A. Webster
L. Dunk
60' Brighton make their third substitution: skipper Dunk is replaced by Webster at the back.
J. Sarmiento
Assist
58' Picking out the clever movement of Mitoma outside the Arsenal box, Sarmiento lays on the pass for Brighton's second goal.
K. Mitoma
Goal
58' BRIGHTON LEAD! After Sarmiento finds Mitoma deep inside the Arsenal half, the latter steps into some space and unleashes an accurate strike past Hein and into the bottom-right corner. A fine finish from the half-time substitute, and Brighton go 2-1 ahead against the run of play!
55' Arsenal have progressed from 18 of their last 19 EFL Cup third round ties, but could be heading for a penalty shootout exit, if they can't break down Brighton today.
53' Arsenal relentlessly pound the Brighton goal, as Sambi Lokonga's latest shot sweeps past the left-hand post. Somehow, the Gunners are still level with their outgunned visitors.
53' SAVE! Steele makes a smart stop, as Nelson's header from the centre of the box is repelled by the Brighton goalkeeper!
52' Deep inside his own area, Dunk makes a brilliant last-ditch block to deny Marquinhos, and Brighton escape again!
50' Following an Arsenal corner, Sambi Lokonga has a shot blocked then fires off-target. Arsenal are totally on top now!
49' OFF THE POST! Nketiah almost adds to his impressive EFL Cup goal haul, as he rattles Steele's post with a powerful shot from the edge of the box!
47' Sambi Lokonga fires narrowly wide of the post with a shot from outside the area, as a bright start to the second half continues.
47' Half-time sub Mitoma strides through the left side of Arsenal's defence, and almost picks out Lamptey's outstretched boot inside the six-yard box; Hein stoops down to collect the ball.
K. Mitoma
S. March
46' Mitoma comes on too, and March will not feature in the second half.
P. Groß
M. Caicedo
46' De Zerbi has opted to make a double change at half-time. First, the yellow-carded Caicedo makes way for Gross.
46' Brighton kick off, and we are back under way at the Emirates Stadium!
Following Brighton's equaliser, Arsenal have attempted the last six shots in the game and have had 67 per cent of possession. Can they now take that momentum into the second half and find a winner?
An open half sees both sides heading down the tunnel at the break still level, after Arsenal led for just seven minutes. A slip-up from the Gunners' debutant goalkeeper cost them the advantage and Welbeck was the man to haul Brighton level against his former club. The scoreline fairly reflects events in the game so far, and after Arteta's 10 changes, the hosts have relied heavily on the threat of Nelson and Nketiah to cover for a lack of fluency elsewhere.
45' + 3' HALF-TIME: ARSENAL 1-1 BRIGHTON
45' + 2' CLOSE! On the edge of the area, Elneny drops his shoulder, then takes a left-footed shot at goal, which is deflected behind by a desperate Dunk block! That's a corner for Arsenal.
44' Tierney and Marquinhos both see shots blocked by the disciplined Brighton back three, as Arsenal flood forward in search of their second goal before the break.
J. Sarmiento
Yellow Card
43' For catching Vieira on the knee, out on the right flank, Sarmiento concedes a free-kick and is also booked.
40' Brighton are soaking up ever more pressure, and their early enterprise has had to make way for a more cautious approach.
38' We are locked at 1-1 heading towards the halfway point, and today's tie will go straight to penalties in the event of a draw after 90 minutes.
36' Nelson is involved again, as he sees a shot from outside the box blocked before it can trouble Steele in the Brighton goal.
34' Arsenal are increasingly on top, as Nelson and Nketiah both threaten the Brighton goal from the edge of the area. Nonetheless, the visitors stay resolute and ride out the storm.
32' The game is brought to a temporary halt, as Vieira nurses an apparent knee injury down on the turf. He will require some medical attention.
30' Though Arsenal have conceded an unfortunate equaliser, 54 per cent of the action has been in Brighton's defensive third during the last 15 minutes of of play.
28' Nketiah takes a pop from the right side of the area, but his shot slips by the left-hand post with Steele left untroubled.
D. Welbeck
Penalty Goal
27' BRIGHTON BACK LEVEL! Having won the penalty himself, Welbeck converts it by guiding his spot-kick into the bottom-right corner, past the luckless Hein. That levels it up at 1-1!
K. Hein
Yellow Card
26' On his club debut, Hein receives a booking and concedes a penalty after slipping and then bringing down Welbeck in the area.
26' PENALTY! Welbeck springs the offside trap, and Hein charges out to try and deny the ex-Gunner a shot at goal; bringing the forward down as he slips on the turf. That's a spot-kick for Brighton, who have a great chance to equalise!
Mohamed Elneny
Yellow Card
25' For a foul on Lamptey in midfield, Elneny becomes the second player booked.
24' Marquinhos breaks forward at speed, but slightly overruns the ball near the box as he looks to cut inside and pull the trigger, and the chance is lost.
22' With momentum on their side since the goal, Arsenal are probing around the Brighton area in search of creating a second - quite a change from the opening stages.
R. Nelson
Assist
20' Using his turn of pace, Nelson beats two Brighton defenders to set up Nketiah's opening goal.
E. Nketiah
Goal
20' ARSENAL LEAD! The Gunners go 1-0 up! After Nelson blitzes the Brighton defence, cup specialist Nketiah stays cool to score his 11th goal in 12 EFL Cup games; planting a delightful strike from the left side of the area into the bottom-right corner!
17' Brighton throw bodies forward again, and this time Enciso shoots from outside the box. However, his effort is also destined to sail over Hein's crossbar. It's been a lively start from the visitors so far.
16' Nelson plays in Vieira, who finds a little space inside the area, but the Portuguese midfielder struggles to fire in an accurate shot after his team-mate's misplaced pass.
14' JUST OVER! Welbeck wins the ball and it breaks to Sarmiento on the edge of the box, and the Ecuadorian slams a powerful shot narrowly over the crossbar!
12' Arsenal may be in the better form at the moment, but failed to win either of their Premier League meetings with Brighton last year - drawing 0-0 at the Amex before a 2-1 loss at the Emirates in April.
10' An outswinging cross is headed partly away by Veltman, but when Tierney returns the ball into the box, Steele claims it quite comfortably.
M. Caicedo
Yellow Card
8' For pulling back Vieira by the shirt, the combative Caicedo is shown the game's first yellow card.
6' Before today's game, Arsenal's streak of victories at the Emirates stands at 12 matches in all competitions. Can their much-changed XI keep that run rolling on today?
4' MISS! Following a Brighton corner, Enciso finds himself unmarked in the area but steers his header off-target from close range!
3' Brighton take the first shot on goal, as Sarmiento breaks through before playing in Enciso, whose effort is deflected wide for a corner by Holding.
1' We are under way in North London!
After silence falls around the Emirates Stadium, to observe 'The Last Post' ahead of Remembrance Day later this week, the players take up their positions and kick-off is now just moments away.
Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi also makes sweeping changes today, as eight players drop that started the 3-2 win at Wolves are replaced. Caicedo, March and captain Dunk are retained, as South American duo Sarmiento and Enciso come in; joining ex-Arsenal striker Welbeck up front. The latter once scored 32 goals for the Gunners, but is yet to find the net this season.
Captained by Holding today, Arsenal make a total of 10 changes from the team that began Sunday's win against Chelsea. Only Saliba is retained, as third-choice goalkeeper Hein makes his club debut and Brazilian starlet Marquinhos features up front. Arteta, though, has named Odegaard, Xhaka, Jesus and Martinelli among his substitutes, so can turn to their experience if required.
SUBS: Robert Sanchez, Ed Turns, Deniz Undav, Andrew Moran, Pascal Gross, Adam Webster, Kaoru Mitoma, Evan Ferguson, Pervis Estupinan.
BRIGHTON (3-4-1-2): Jason Steele; Joel Veltman, Lewis Dunk, Levi Colwill; Tariq Lamptey, Billy Gilmour, Moises Caicedo, Solly March; Jeremy Sarmiento; Julio Enciso, Danny Welbeck.
SUBS: Matt Turner, Thomas Partey, Martin Odegaard, Ben White, Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Gabriel Magalhaaes, Gabriel Martinelli, Granit Xhaka.

After beating Wolves last weekend, Brighton are sixth in the Premier League standings after 13 matches, and they now continue their quest for a first ever League Cup. The Seagulls have already defeated League One strugglers Forest Green Rovers 3-0 to make it this far, and are aiming to secure a fourth-round appearance today - they have been knocked out at that stage in both of the past two seasons. Set to face in-form hosts today, Brighton have conceded at least twice in each of their last five away matches.
Entering at this stage of the competition due to their Europa League participation, Arsenal have endured a three-decade drought in the EFL Cup. In fact, the Gunners have only lifted the trophy twice in their history - most recently in 1993. Mikel Arteta's men made it to the semi-finals last year, but were eliminated by eventual winners Liverpool. Following Sunday's win over London rivals Chelsea, today's hosts have posted three straight wins without conceding a goal and hold a two-point lead over Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of today's EFL Cup third round tie between Arsenal and Brighton at the Emirates Stadium!
