Wrexham launch urgent appeal for witnesses after 'criminal offence' report as Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney's side issue 'strictest punishments available' warning

Lancashire Police have opened an investigation after some Wrexham fans were accused of throwing vapes, cigarette lighters and mini bottles of alcohol at Accrington Stanley goalkeeper Jon McCracken on Saturday. The club have now asked for witnesses of the incident to come forward and help identify the individuals involved. Wrexham have also warned that incidents like that could result in "potential disciplinary action, increased policing costs and reduced ticket allocations for future games."

The incident happened during the second half of Wrexham's 2-0 defeat away at Stanley in League Two. Wrexham's supporters reacted angrily when home goalkeeper McCracken went down after a collision with striker Paul Mullin. Objects were thrown at the goalkeeper from the away end, and though McCracken avoided injury, the incident resulted in a stoppage of over 10 minutes.

Wrexham published a statement that read: "We have a zero-tolerance approach to unacceptable behaviour at Wrexham AFC matches, home or away. We have been delighted by the fantastic support we have received this season, and would like to thank all involved for that. However, we would like to remind all people attending matches that anybody found guilty of engaging in unacceptable behaviour will face the strictest punishments available to us as a Football Club."

Wrexham await the outcome of the police investigation and any potential punishments from the Football League or Football Association that may follow. On the field, Phil Parkinson's side will look to return to winning ways when they welcome Morecambe to the SToK Racecourse on Saturday.
