Despite his struggles, Amorim has insisted he will not change his 3-4-3 system at Manchester United. Speaking after the 3-0 humbling by Manchester City, he said: "It's not a record that you should have in Manchester United. There are a lot of things that you have no idea what happened during these months, but I accept that. But I'm not going to change. When I want to change my philosophy, I will change. If not, you have to change the man."
However, Manchester United know that sacking Amorim will prove expensive business. The club would have to pay their Portuguese boss an eye-watering £12 million ($17m) if he is dismissed inside the first year of his contract.
