Stuttgart confident of Nick Woltemade stay as director cites 'agreement' despite Bayern Munich interest

Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth has publicly stated that the club expects Woltemade to stay for the upcoming season, despite reported interest from Bayern Munich. Speaking as Stuttgart resumed training, Wohlgemuth cited a long-term agreement made with the striker nearly 18 months ago and insisted it remains valid. While Bayern have formally expressed interest, their rivals consider Woltemade part of their squad for 2025-26.

The 23-year-old German midfielder, joined Stuttgart on a free transfer from Werder Bremen last summer and has quickly become a key figure under Sebastian Hoeness. He played a key role in Germany’s run to the final of the European Under 21 Championship earlier this summer, and his technical ability, size, and link-up play have drawn comparisons to top Bundesliga forwards. With a contract running until June 2028, Stuttgart view him as central to their long-term plans. Bayern, on the other hand, are actively pursuing new attacking options and are believed to also have already reached a personal agreement with the player. For Stuttgart, retaining Woltemade is as much about sporting ambition as it is about maintaining squad identity.

Despite the rumours, Wohlgemuth was clear in his stance, pointing to the existing contractual agreement between the player and the club. He told local media: "We made a long-term agreement with Nick almost a year and a half ago, and it's still valid. And that's why we assume that Nick will continue to play football with us next season and be able to show his qualities with us."

When pressed about whether the Bundesliga champions had submitted a formal offer for the 23-year-old striker, he chose not to reveal any details regarding negotiations between clubs, saying: "If any talks take place at all, that's a matter between the two clubs."

Woltemade is due to return from his extended holiday on July 28, with Stuttgart scheduled to begin pre-season shortly after. Despite external interest, for coach Hoeness the young German starlet is a key figure in his project. Stuttgart remain firm that the striker is not for sale, but Bayern’s next move could yet test that resolve as the Bundesliga giants seek to bolster their attack.
