  • Wrexham trim squad on deadline day
  • Fringe forwards leave for variety of clubs
  • Loans until January and next summer
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The first of the trio to go was Jake Bickerstaff, who has moved to National League side Altrincham - the club where David de Gea was doing some training during his year out of football - until January 2025. An announcement confirming Billy Waters' switch to Halifax, also of the National League and another until January, then followed. Finally, Sam Dalby is heading to the Scottish Premiership with Dundee United on a season-long loan.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

With Mo Faal signed from West Bromwich Albion on deadline day and Wrexham otherwise well stocked up front with Steven Fletcher, Ollie Palmer and the fit-again Paul Mullin, meaningful chances for other players were unlikely this season. Dalby had played only 14 minutes of the League One opener against Wycombe Wanderers and started the Carabao Cup win over Sheffield United, while Bickerstaff and Waters were both yet to see any action prior to their respective loans.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Faal scored 13 League Two goals last season across loans with Doncaster Rovers and Walsall. The Gambian-born talent is only 21 years of age and had previously been prolific for Fylde in the National League North - the sixth tier of English football.

    WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?

Wrexham's season continues on Saturday afternoon with a trip to Peterborough, who are one point behind in League One. Wrexham were comfortable victors over Reading last weekend but the pressure is already on because rivals Stockport County are already setting the standard this season by winning all three of their league fixtures since promotion.
