  • WHAT HAPPENED?

In a video posted on the club’s Instagram, the Hollywood stars announced a 50 percent sale on the club’s kits and encouraged fans to make the most of the discounted merchandise. The pair, who highlighted their investments into new signings and a new stand at the Racecourse Ground, explained how expensive running the club can be. They want fans to offer financial support through the purchasing of the kits.

  • WHAT REYNOLDS AND MCELHENNEY SAID

Both men, wearing changing Wrexham kits, discussed the financial cost of running the club. Reynolds begins by saying: "You may have seen a lot of announcements recently. We signed some pretty legit players in the transfer window."

McElhenney adds: "And we unveiled plans for a shiny new Kop, which is a stadium."

Reynolds then says: "It is expensive! Running a football club is like lighting money on fire except it doesn't keep you warm."

McElhenney adds: "Picture a black hole. Now throw your wallet in it."

Reynolds says: "Which brings us to our sale on kits. Act now."

McElhenney continues with the analogies: "Because running a football club is like running into a financial brick wall."

Reynolds adds: "You may think it's all fun and games but you haven't received a call from Rob McElhenney at 3am screaming bloody murder that this thing is bleeding me dry every single f*cking week."

McElhenney replies: "No, I wasn't screaming at you Ryan. I was crying. Act now."

Reynolds rounds off the video by saying: "Or whenever you can. I'm kidding. Act now."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

With the Hollywood actors on board, Wrexham have some of the wealthiest and most involved owners in League One. Since Reynolds and McElhenney took over the club, Wrexham have risen from the National League to their current division and are in contention for back-to-back-to-back promotions. A large amount of this success can be attributed to the lofty wages offered to attract star names to the club, but it appears those hefty salaries are starting to rack up big costs for the owners.

    WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?

If the Red Dragons are to strengthen their automatic promotion hopes, they will need to keep on winning in League One. After they've played Bolton on Saturday lunchtime there will be just 13 games remaining in the regular season, with Wrexham currently trailing leaders Birmingham City and Wycombe in the table.
