Rob McElhenney shows his admiration as Wrexham's women's team turn up to watch Red Dragons at TST

Rob McElhenney admired Wrexham's women's team special gesture to turn up and cheer for the Red Dragons during their campaign opener at TST.

WHAT HAPPENED?
The Welsh side started their journey at TST against FC Roha Eagles on Wednesday morning. The women's team are also set to participate in the tournament and were in attendance to watch their male counterparts in action in a group stage encounter. Wrexham co-owner, McElhenney, appreciated the gesture and shared a tweet from the official TST account in his Instagram story.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Despite the loud cheers from the women's team, Wrexham fell to beat the Eagles and succumbed to a 4-2 defeat. Veysel Kayantas scored a brace while Granit Neziri and Adrian Rama found the net once to send the League One side packing. George Boyd and Gary Hooper got on the scoresheet for Wrexham.
WHAT HAS BEEN SAID
McElhenney shared the tweet from TST which read: "How great that the @WrexhamAFCWomen pulled up to watch the @Wrexham_AFC men's squad in TST! The Wrexham Red Dragons are on(e) big family!"

WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?
Wrexham will look to make amends for their earlier defeat when they return to action later on Wednesday in their second match against Saturdays Football. Meanwhile, the women's team will begin their campaign against Angel City 7s on Friday.
