Madrid secured the honour of hosting the inaugural game in Spain, beating Atletico Madrid's Metropolitano Stadium in the race to become the first venue in the country to stage an NFL match. The game is expected to generate significant financial interest, paving the way for more events in the future.

The NFL has added the Kansas City Chiefs to its global expansion program, giving them market rights in Spain alongside the Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins. This opens the possibility of Patrick Mahomes playing in Spain in the future. Barcelona are interested in hosting an NFL game at Camp Nou once renovations are finished, per a report from SPORT, though delays have made the completion date uncertain.
