Mats Hummels to stay? Edin Terzic's future will decide if defender leaves Borussia Dortmund as broken relationship between veteran and coach is revealed

The veteran defender's current deal with the German side expires at the end of this month after which he is expected to move away from the club. However, according to Sky Sports, the situation could change if Dortmund decide to sack manager Edin Terzic this summer.

The relationship between Terzic and Hummels has reportedly worsened in the past few months and the player had publicly criticised the manager during an interview with the BILD ahead of their Champions League final against Real Madrid. However, the report from Sky Sports further claimed that it is unlikely that Dortmund would part ways with the 41-year-old coach whose existing deal with the club runs until 2025.

The 2014 World Cup-winning defender has attracted interest from Major League Soccer and the Saudi Pro League but he is likely to stay in Europe and could sign for Serie A giants AC Milan.

The Bundesliga side have reportedly identified the 35-year-old's replacement as they are eyeing a move for Lyon and Ireland defender Jake O’Brien in the upcoming summer transfer window.
