WHAT HAPPENED?
Leeds have reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with striker Okafor, according to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport and Football Italia. The newly-promoted Premier League side is now focused on finalising a permanent transfer with Milan, who have yet to give their approval for the deal. The Rossoneri have been reflecting on the transfer, which would see Okafor leave San Siro after returning from a six-month loan spell at Napoli.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Okafor's potential move to Leeds comes after he spent the second half of the 2024-25 season on loan with Napoli, where he won the Serie A title. The Switzerland international, who joined Milan from RB Salzburg in 2023, has scored a total of seven goals in 43 Serie A appearances for Milan and Napoli. He has been in impressive form during Milan’s pre-season, scoring three goals and featuring in their recent Coppa Italia win over Bari. While Bologna were previously in talks for his signature, they failed to reach an agreement with Milan.

Okafor faced Leeds United in a pre-season friendly in Dublin earlier in August, where he impressed for AC Milan in a 1-1 draw.

WHAT NEXT FOR LEEDS UNITED?
Leeds will now push to finalise a transfer fee with Milan to complete the deal for Okafor. The club, who have already signed Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha, are keen to add further attacking options ahead of the transfer deadline. Leeds begin their Premier League campaign with a home fixture against Everton on August 18. Okafor could join the squad in time for the trip to face Arsenal on August 23 or the home match against Newcastle United on August 30 if the transfer is completed quickly.
