Davide Zappacosta has moved to rubbish reports suggesting that he could leave Chelsea and return to Italy at Inter after just one season in England.

The 26-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2017 after catching the eye in Serie A with Atalanta and Torino.

Antonio Conte returned to his homeland to bring a fellow Italian into a squad which had been hoping to mount a successful defence of the Premier League title.

Things did not go to plan for Chelsea in 2017-18, as they finished fifth, while Zappacosta faced fierce competition for places – starting just 12 fixtures in the English top flight.

With another summer of change on the cards in west London, it has been suggested that the Italy international could be lured away after just 12 months, with Inter reported to be leading the chase for his signature.

Zappacosta has, however, sought to bring the exit talk to a close by stating his continued commitment to Chelsea.

He told Sky Sport Italia:  “I just want to have a great season, regardless of where I play.

“Inter? The interest is pleasing but I don’t know anything about it and I’m only thinking of Chelsea.”

Zappacosta penned a four-year contract with the Blues when arriving last summer, with that agreement intended to take him through to 2021.

He did make 35 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea in his debut campaign, but was rarely a regular starter.

With Conte once again favouring systems with wing-backs, be that 3-5-2 or 3-4-3, Victor Moses was often given the nod ahead of Zappacosta on the right-hand side.
