Liverpool's astonishing form this season has blown the Premier League away, but title celebrations will likely be delayed due to public health concerns.

European football has been severely disrupted as authorities attempt to prevent further spread of Covid-19 and, although the Premier League has returned with games behind closed doors, life is not yet back to the 'normal' that existed before.

The Reds officially won the Premier League at the end of June and are set to receive the trophy towards the end of July, but the traditional trophy parade that follows successful campaigns is in doubt.

Goal takes a look at the reasons, if a parade will take place and the possibility that it could even be cancelled.

When would Liverpool's trophy parade take place?

If a Liverpool trophy parade is to take place, it would logically happen at some point after their final game of the season - after July 26.

Title parades are traditionally held one day after the final game of the season and, if it goes ahead in that fashion, that would mean the parade would be held on Monday July 27.

However, it seems more likely that it will be delayed for a number of months, with September touted as a more realistic date.

According to the Daily Mail, talks between Premier League clubs and the British government have been positive, suggesting that an official parade may be possible mid-September.

Could Liverpool cancel their trophy parade?

Given the ongoing public health concerns related to the spread of the coronavirus, there is a strong possibility that Liverpool's Premier League trophy parade could be cancelled.

While lockdown restrictions have eased in the United Kingdom to the point where pubs and restaurants are allowed to serve a limited number of customers, social distancing regulations remain in place.

As such, the idea of staging a victory parade in the city of Liverpool would be ill-advised, considering the likelihood that such an event would potentially attract thousands of spectators.

Indeed, Liverpool fans were heavily criticised for gathering en masse around Anfield and parts of the city following the confirmation of the Reds as champions on June 25.

The best case scenario may be for any parade to be held closer to the start of next season (September) instead the back-end of this current campaign.

What would Liverpool's trophy parade route be?

Obviously, Liverpool have never held a Premier League trophy parade before and such occasion would no doubt be a special one for supporters.

Reds fans have, however, been lucky enough to enjoy two Champions League trophy parades in recent history (in 2005 and in 2019).

The 2019 Champions League trophy parade involved red buses taking the players and coaches (as well as the trophy) across the entire city on June 2, a day after the victorious final in Madrid.

The parade began at 4pm BST in Liverpool, beginning at Allerton Maze and travelling northbound on Queens Drive towards the Fiveways roundabout and Rocket flyover – then trawling through Queens Drive, Mill Bank, West Derby Road, Islington, Leeds Street, the Strand and finishing at Blundell Street.

An estimated 750,000 Liverpool fans turned up to celebrate their first Champions League trophy in over a decade.

The 2019 route might be used as a blueprint for a future potential Premier League trophy parade.
