Wenger declares Walcott has Arsenal future

Arsene Wenger has insisted that Theo Walcott does still have a future with Arsenal despite him being linked with a January exit from the club.

The winger has struggled for regular game time in the 2017-18 season and has been limited to just three Premier League appearances thus far this campaign.

His only starts for the Gunners have come in the Europa League, where he's scored two goals and registered one assist in his four games in that competition.

The likes of Everton and Southampton have been linked with January moves for the 28-year-old but Wenger is adamant that he does have a future at Emirates Stadium.

He told reporters ahead of Thursday's clash with BATE Borisov: "Yes he has a future. He works very hard. He was sick a few weeks ago and after I didn’t change the squad. But overall in training he looks very sharp."

Wenger also suggested Shkodran Mustafi faces a race against time to be to face Southampton on the weekend.

He added: “Everybody is available. There is a small problem with Mustafi from Saturday but everybody else looks alright.

"He’s got a little thigh problem, but it’s a small one. He could be available for Southampton."
