Cristiano Ronaldo marked a historic return to action for Al-Nassr, the Portugal star and club captain ending an absence that had stretched beyond 240 minutes.
Al-Nassr travelled to neighbours Al-Riyadh on Friday, meeting at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium in the Saudi capital for the second round of the Roshn League.
With his side 3-0 up, Australian manager Ange Postecoglou turned to Ronaldo in the 62nd minute, sending him on in place of Saudi forward Abdullah Al-Hamdan.
The Al-Nassr fans erupted. They chanted his name from the moment he began warming up until he stepped onto the pitch for Al-Hamdan.
He took the captain's armband the moment he arrived, inheriting it from Saudi defender Abdulelah Al-Amri, who had worn it from kick-off.
It was Ronaldo's first appearance for Al-Nassr this season. He had returned late to training, only rejoining this week after finishing his campaign with Portugal at the 2026 World Cup.
His late arrival meant he sat out Al-Nassr's opening two matches of the season: the 3-0 win over Al-Fateh in the first round of the Roshn League and the 4-1 win over Al-Diriyah in the round of 32 of the King's Cup.
Ronaldo was not content merely to show his face. He scored his first goal of the season, and Al-Nassr's fourth of the match, in the 83rd minute, latching onto a low cross from Ayman Yahya and turning it into the net with his left foot.
Last season he finished as Al-Nassr's top scorer in the Roshn League with 28 goals, third overall in the competition behind Mexico's Julian Quinones of Al-Qadsiah and England's Ivan Toney of Al-Ahli.
