Shock Casemiro 'regret' claim made with Man Utd star allegedly unsettled by 'institutional instability' at Old Trafford

  • Casemiro allegedly unhappy at Man Utd
  • Could look to leave the club
  • Man Utd could replace him with Benfica ace

WHAT HAPPENED? The Brazilian moved to Old Trafford from Real Madrid in a big-money move last summer and made a huge impression under Erik ten Hag in his debut season, helping United to a top-four finish and Carabao Cup glory. This season, though, Casemiro has struggled, and Catalan publication EL Nacional has claimed that he "regrets" joining the Red Devils. The report also states that Casemiro's stay in Manchester will be "short-lived" as he has grown concerned by how the club is run off the pitch.

THE BIGGER PICTURE: Casemiro's performances have dipped alarmingly amid his apparent loss of faith, and United are reportedly interested in acquiring Benfica's Joao Neves as a replacement. El Nacional claims that the club have already explored the possibility of signing Neves, and they've learnt that they'll need to spend at least €70 million (£61 m/$74) to sign the Portugal international.

WHAT NEXT? United are unlikely to sell Casemiro in January given the fact he is still under contract until 2026. However, they could make a formal bid for Neves, which might led to Casemiro's future being evaluated in the summer.
