The striker is said to have an uneasy relationship with Pep Guardiola and gave an ambiguous response to questions over his future

Sergio Aguero has again suggested all is not well at Manchester City, echoing his claims from 12 months ago that his employers will soon decide his future.

The Argentine has echoed his sentiments from February of last year when he first suggested his employers would have to decide his future.

Goal reported in December that Aguero is unhappy with his treatment by City boss Pep Guardiola , as he believes he is being forced out by the Catalan, though he is determined to stay at the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola himself acknowledged Aguero’s feelings by insisting a day later that it is the players’ relationship with each other which is the most important thing, not their relationship with the manager.

It is a repeat of the scenario which was played out during last season: in February the 29-year-old pointedly told reporters that he had three months to play as well as possible until the end of the season, at which point the club would decide if they wanted him to stay.

Aguero’s implication was that he felt he was being forced out by Guardiola, and Goal understands that he was only appeased in July when City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak assured the Argentine that things would change during talks in Los Angeles.

Speaking after Tuesday’s game, Aguero repeated the sentiments that he first made clear at the start of 2017.

“I have until 2020, I think,” he said after Tuesday's 3-1 defeat of Watford, in another suggestion that his contract situation is far from clear even to those in the know.

“The truth is that I hope to see out my contract and I’ll try to do my best from here until the end of the season, and after that we will see what happens with me.”

Asked if he wants to stay, he replied: “Yes, for me yes. Obviously my plan is not to change clubs. The truth is I’m very happy here, but as always, as I said before, the club has the last word, they’re the only ones who decide, because obviously the club is the one who makes the decisions, they are the ones who say you have to go or have to stay, so I’ll respect whatever they tell me.”

Aguero was then asked about his relationship with Guardiola, to which he gave a stern reply: “Everything’s fine.”
