Wrexham love Hollywood drama! Paul Mullin stunner and sublime last-gasp Elliot Lee winner give Red Dragons another dramatic three points against Sutton

  • Wrexham won 2-1
  • Paul Mullin scored stunning opener
  • Elliot Lee scored 88th-minute winner

TELL ME MORE: Paul Mullin opened the scoring with an absolute rocket. Taking the ball on the edge of the area, the striker turned beautifully and cannoned the ball into the top corner to give the Welsh side a narrow lead.

Wrexham dominated the first half but were unable to turn their dominance into goals, and they were made to pay in the second half, as Aiden O'Brien got on the end of a dangerous delivery to equalise just before the hour.

It took Wrexham some time to break down Sutton's steadfast defence but, as they have made a habit of doing, they scored an 89th-minute winner, as Elliot Lee rifled home a superb finish from the edge of the area.

THE MVP: It has to be Mullin. The man is just too good for this level and his goal was evidence of just how talismanic the striker is. Lee may have scored the winner, but the 28-year-old Mullin is quickly rediscovering his magic touch following his lung injury, and that spells trouble for the rest of League Two.

THE BIG LOSER: Ryan Barnett played well for Wrexham, getting up and down the flank and delivering crosses, but he picked up an injury that curtailed his involvement in the game. He limped off on 69 minutes, and the 24-year-old will hope it is nothing serious. He had served a three-match ban for a red card against Crewe Alexandra before returning to provide an assist against Bradford last time out. Another absence would be a bitter blow.
