Real Madrid have moved again to strengthen their squad before the season kicks off, unveiling Spanish full-back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea on Monday evening.
The club confirmed the deal on their website, days before the anticipated clash against Real Sociedad. That fixture, postponed from the opening round of La Liga, is scheduled for next Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Real Madrid laid on a special presentation for the player in the meeting hall at their sports city, with president Florentino Pérez and honorary president José Martínez Pirri looking on. Cucurella put pen to paper on a long-term contract running for six seasons, until 30 June 2032. He then received a commemorative model of the Bernabéu and a luxury watch before showing off his new shirt, which will carry the number 17.
The signing makes Cucurella Real Madrid's fourth arrival of the summer window, following Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konaté and Denzel Dumfries, all part of the management's plan to strengthen every position.
