Borussia Dortmund have announced the signing of Bayer Leverkusen defender Omer Toprak ahead of next season.

Do Madrid really need Ronaldo?

Thomas Tuchel's side have agreed to pay the Turkey international's release clause, which is reported to be €12 million.

And the centre-back has signed a four-year deal with the eight-time Bundesliga champions.

Toprak is rated as one of the best defenders in Germany, and Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc is hopeful he can make a real impact at the Westfalenstadion.

"Omer Toprak is a strong defender with international experience and great leadership qualities," he said in a club statement.

Toprak will now turn his attention to drive Leverkusen up the Bundesliga table as well as their upcoming Champions League last-16 tie against Atletico Madrid.
