Mathare United star warns KPL top scorer on notice

Mathare United top scorer Chrispin Oduor has put his Kenyan Premier League counterpart Stephen Waruru on notice with his eye set on the Golden Boot.

Waruru, who came in as a substitute in Ulinzi Stars’ 1-0 win over Chemelil Sugar on Tuesday, has 11 goals, just four more than Oduor, who has seven goals.

Oduor scored a hat-trick in Mathare United’s 6-0 mauling over a hapless Zoo FC in a league match at Ruaraka Stadium to take him within four points adrift of KPL top scorer, Waruru.

Oduor believes that he can still catch up with Waruru who has gone four matches without a goal.

“A lot of people have been telling me about that (Golden Boot). They think I have a chance so why not? ” posed Oduor.

“It felt good to score a hat trick. It shows that if you work at it and concentrate then you stand a high chance of scoring. It is good if you can score more than three in a game as a team..” Oduor told the club website.

“We have been playing well in the last five matches but have been unlucky not to get the result that we want. Scoring six without conceding is a good sign and that is what we have been working for,” concluded Oduor.

The 30 year-old is the only surviving member of the 2008 title winning squad despite this being his second stint at the club.
