Liverpool fan Paul Mullin reveals he would've played for Man Utd & names Premier League star that would be his ideal strike partner at Wrexham

Mullin has enhanced his reputation as one of the finest strikers in the lower leagues since joining the Welsh club, and he fired them to promotion from the National League last season.

The 28-year-old scored a staggering 46 goals in all competitions in 2022-23 as Wrexham won the title, sealing their promotion to League Two, and even co-owner Ryan Reynolds has admitted that he has a budding bromance with the forward.

Mullin came through the ranks in Merseyside, playing for both Everton and Liverpool's youth teams before moving to Huddersfield Town, where he would go on to make his first-team debut.

However, the Reds fan has admitted that he would have welcomed the chance to join United if asked.

Speaking in the latest episode of GOAL's Box to Box series, Mullin said: "I used to go to Liverpool games back in the day and I literally had that scarf. Everyone I’d go I used to take it around my neck as a kid. I’d be like 12 and it would be sunny and I’d be like: ‘my scarf dad’ and run and get it.

"People say if you’ve not got a purple wheelie bin you’re not from Liverpool, so whoever’s put that in there is just trying to wind me up. I played for Everton when I was a kid. I was playing with my brother’s mates and an Everton scout asked if I wanted to go down. I just wanted to play football, I didn’t care if it was Everton, Liverpool or Manchester United - but I’ve always supported Liverpool.

"My dad always took me everywhere to watch them. It gave me some of the best days out of my life just watching Liverpool. [The city] means everything.

"The people of Liverpool, they just get each other. Say Americans, they’re patriotic towards the USA. That’s Scousers about Liverpool. We care about each other."

Mullin was also asked which current player would be his ideal strike partner, and he ignored Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez, going instead for Tottenham talisman Harry Kane.

He added: "Harry Kane. He likes to get a load of assists so he’d be able to set me up. It’s all about me!"

Wrexham will play both Chelsea and Manchester United in the United States this summer as part of their pre-season preparations.
