Leicester want to sign 18-year-old left-back Nuno Mendes from Sporting Lisbon, according to the Daily Mail.

The Portugal under-21 international has a release clause of £40 million ($53m) but Sporting may be willing to sell for less amid the financial struggles of the coronavirus pandemic.

Newcastle have been linked with a move in the past.

Arsenal will not be signing Mitchel Bergkamp following his week-long stay with the north London club last month.

Bergkamp, son of Gunners legend Dennis, was invited to London Colney in October where he spent a week working with Steve Bould’s Under-23s.

The midfielder has been a free agent since the summer having left Dutch second-tier side Almere City, where he progressed through the youth ranks.

Atletico considering signing Newcastle's Almiron


The agent for Newcastle United playmaker Miguel Almiron says Atletico Madrid are interested in signing his client.

According to quotes in the Newcastle Chronicle, agent Daniel Campos says Atleti showed their interest in Almiron and the Paraguayan international will likely leave in the near future.

"Look, I was able to come in contact with their coaching staff (Atletico Madrid) and they told me that they were interested and just scouting him, but never in the position to make an offer," Campos said.

"They were just looking at him. But I think in the future, it’s possible, why not? There are also big teams in England for which they are inquiring about him and we talk.

"I have no doubt will leave, I think it will happen soon, perhaps in June (2021) because this year, everything was disorganized on the transfers due to the Covid-19 pandemic."

"There was no way I was going to come out of my house if it wasn't a big challenge and this is an enormous challenge," Pulis said, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

"This is a club with a fervent following. No disrespect to Sheffield United but if you got this club into the Premier League it would be the biggest club in Sheffield. At the moment we're not because of the stability Chris Wilder has brought them."

Hertha Berlin's sporting director Michael Preetz has suggested the club’s efforts to sign Matteo Guendouzi on a permanent basis will rest on the asking price Arsenal set.

Guendouzi is on a season-long loan with the Bundesliga club, and whether he stays could come down to price.

“We’ll see next summer,” Preetz told Kicker. “How the prices will develop by then and what Arsenal is planning then, nobody can say today.”

Hungary coach Marco Rossi feels Red Bull Salzburg’s Dominik Szoboszlai is destined to play in the Bundesliga.

A host teams are interested in the youngster, including Napoli, but Rossi feels the fast-paced style of the Bundesliga will suit the rising star perfectly.

“My feeling is that he is more likely to end up in Germany. He is ready to make the leap, going to the Bundesliga where there’s a faster pace,” the Daily Star quotes Rossi as saying.
