    Newcastle director promises to back Howe in January window

    Newcastle United director Amanda Staveley has promised that Eddie Howe will be backed in the January transfer window.

    Howe succeeded Steve Bruce in the managerial hot seat at St James' Park earlier this week, and will now set about trying to steer the team away from the relegation zone.

    Staveley has told the NUFC website: "We are preparing for the January transfer window. It's not a window we would ordinarily want to invest in, because you probably don't get the right deals, but that's something that is important at the moment."

    Milan have set their sights on Las Palmas starlet Alberto Moleiro - according to Calcio Mercato.

    Barcelona and Real Madrid have also been linked with the 18-year-old, who has less than two years remaining on his current contract.

    Milan could acquire Moleiro in January if they meet his €10 million release clause, which will rise to €40m (£34m/$46m) if Las Palmas gain promotion to La Liga.

    Guendouzi initially joined Arsenal from Lorient in 2018, establishing himself as a key member of the squad under Unai Emery before his sacking a year later.
