Leeroy Echteld was unhappy with Kees Smit's attitude on Saturday evening, the AZ coach said in an interview with ESPN after the win over Fortuna Sittard (0-2).
After just nine minutes on Saturday evening, AZ got a huge slice of luck: Fortuna striker Ole Romeney stood on Chavez's ankle and saw red.
Even then, AZ took a long time to score against Danny Buijs' ten men. The Alkmaar club missed a string of chances before Jizz Hornkamp finally opened the scoring after 58 minutes.
Hornkamp, the former striker of Heracles and Willem II among others, then made it 0-2 as well, keeping AZ faultless in the league.
Afterwards, though, Echteld was not satisfied. Smit's attitude after his substitution in the 69th minute left him hugely irritated, after Echteld had decided to replace him with Jordy Clasie.
"Look, he's angry and he doesn't look at me. He is perfectly entitled to be angry, but I don't like this. You can still look at me when you're being substituted. He can come to me tomorrow," said the AZ coach.
