The Swedish striker has been linked with a return to Europe after impressing in America, but he claims it is his intention to remain in California

Zlatan Ibrahimovic admits he is a man in demand, amid links to the likes of Manchester United and AC Milan, but claims to have no interest in a loan move.

The 37-year-old has seen his exploits in MLS with the LA Galaxy spark talk of a possible return to Europe now that his 2018 commitments in America have come to a close after missing out on a play-off spot.

Potential returns to Old Trafford or San Siro have been mooted, with previous employers in the Premier League and Serie A in need of attacking inspiration, but no talks have been held.

Instead, Ibrahimovic has revealed that he is in discussions regarding fresh terms in Los Angeles.

He told reporters at a media call when quizzed on the loan speculation: “There is interest, there’s no secret.

“There is interest from Europe, but my priority is the Galaxy. I’m here and I’m happy to be here.

“Interest … There will always be interest. This is normal. When I was injured one year, then yes, but now when I’m back, alive, it is not a surprise.

“If I belong to the Galaxy, I’m a Galaxy player, I don’t go abroad. If I belong to one club, I stay with one club and focus on that club and give all my attention to that club.”

Ibrahimovic’s current contract is due to take in the 2019 campaign, but the transfer rumours have led to meetings regarding a new deal.

“Me myself, I’m positive, the Galaxy want and they believe they will make big changes in the club,” added the former Sweden international.

“I’m in talks with the Galaxy, they have wishes, I have wishes, but I’m optimistic and I’m positive.

“I want to be able to challenge for the trophy. Like I said, I’m not here for a vacation, I’m here for the challenge and I want to feel I have a chance to be the best in MLS … my team, not me, because I am the best, but I want to feel like my team can compete against the others.”

Ibrahimovic netted 22 times across 27 outings in his debut season for the Galaxy and hopes that contribution will be acknowledged when he holds further talks regarding his future.

“The club knows all my wishes, all my demands and it’s up to them what they want,” he added.

“They were very positive and they have been very good to me, very helpful to me and my family with whatever I need. I have a good relationship with everybody. Let’s say I’m not worried.

“I think the results speak for themselves. Let’s just say I’m happy, my family, everybody is happy and we have a good time and good life here. Everybody is working.”
