The French media have come down hard on Mika Godts after his Paris Saint-Germain debut. The forward failed to make a good impression in the 2-2 draw with Stade Rennes.
Godts joined from Ajax two weeks ago for €52 million. The Belgian winger signed a contract with PSG until mid-2031.
On Sunday evening, the left winger had to settle for a place on the bench for PSG's season opener, but came on at half-time. He replaced Kvicha Kvaratskhelia.
PSG were already 2-0 down against Rennes at the break, but with Godts and Ferran Torres on the pitch, the team still managed to draw level. The Spaniard scored twice to make it 2-2.
That has earned Torres lavish praise in the French press, while Godts has yet to convince. Foot Mercato gave the KRC Genk academy product a 4 for his performance.
"He was already offside with his first touch of the ball. He played without courage, did not make things difficult for the Rennes defence and squandered a shooting chance," the outlet concluded.
Le Parisien were not convinced either. They also gave Godts a failing mark (5).
