Ferran Torres rescued Paris Saint-Germain from defeat against Rennes. Two goals on his first appearance for the club turned a losing position into a draw and earned him lavish praise from Luis Enrique after the match.
PSG had trailed 2-0 at the break. Seko Fofana... Blas... Simansky struck in the ninth minute, and Esteban Lepaul doubled the lead in the 38th.
Luis Enrique made two changes at the start of the second half, and one of them saved his side. Ferran Torres came on for Ousmane Dembélé and scored both equalisers. The first arrived in the 71st minute, the second in the 82nd.
Luis Enrique said after the match: "He played very well, didn't he? He scored two goals from two brilliant passes by Fabián. I am especially pleased with the players who came on in a difficult match."
"In the first half, we had a lot of problems containing Rennes," the manager added. "They scored two very fine goals. Things were difficult. But as I said, it is important to see that many of the players who are on the bench, or even those who were not in the matchday squad, are ready."
He went on: "We have signed players, but we are not worried about what they will do in one match, or ten matches, or twenty matches... We signed players in order to build a long-term relationship with them. This is very positive for Ferran, and we are very happy that he scored two fine and beautiful goals."
Enrique cut a grim figure on the touchline at times. Asked afterwards why, he did not dodge it: "Because we held a meeting with the referees. They say they will do certain things, and then nothing happens. So yes, I was annoyed."
A warning followed for his players: "Paris has not won anything, nothing at all. If you think about what you have won, you will not win anything. The most important thing for me is that there is no room for complacency. You have to prove every day, in every training session, and in every match, that you are ready. Otherwise it is easy to fall into arrogance because of past successes. We are always looking to win, and that is why you have to get out of your comfort zone. Is that clear?"
Might another signing arrive? "We had a very good transfer window, but we remain open to different possibilities," said Enrique. "We know how difficult it is to keep winning, and it is clear that we need to improve."
