Johan Derksen is unhappy in Greetings from Grolloo with Kees Smit's behaviour. The AZ playmaker was taken off against Fortuna Sittard and clearly didn't hide his frustration.
Leeroy Echteld was irritated by Smit's reaction after his substitution in the 69th minute. He then brought on fellow midfielder Jordy Clasie.
''Look, he is angry and he does not look at me. He is allowed to be angry, but I do not like this. He can still look at me when he is substituted. He can come to me tomorrow,'' AZ's coach told ESPN.
On Monday, Derksen opened his analysis of the AZ midfielder in brutal fashion. ''I was shocked by the behaviour of Kees Smit. That is an extremely young super talent from AZ. People were already saying he would go to the World Cup and all that, to gain experience. Because that is the new superstar.''
Then he turned to Saturday's substitution against Fortuna Sittard. ''But he was substituted on Saturday because he played badly. And then you get an act in front of that dugout,'' De Snor says. ''He ignores the coach, and he walks past him with a face like an earwig. The ego was clearly hurt. Then I think: Kees Smit, you are not yet the superstar they see in you.''
Derksen then doubled down. ''And for the time being you especially should not go to a big foreign club. Because there you have much more competition. And then there will be times when you are left out. If you cannot live with that, you should just stay at AZ. In a protected environment.''
