Ferran Torres could hardly have dreamed of a better debut. Spain's forward marked his first night in a Paris Saint-Germain shirt with two goals to earn his side a 2-2 draw against Rennes. Then came the comedy: after the match, he and new team-mate Mika Godts found themselves locked out of their own hotel.
Spanish newspaper "Sport" report that Torres and Godts wandered the streets of Rennes once the game had finished, only to run into a group of supporters gathered outside the hotel entrance. The pair tried to slip inside as fans followed them and filmed on their phones, but the revolving glass doors wouldn't budge at that hour of the night.
This was no simple case of a crowd swarming the new signings. The hotel appeared to be closed, or the reception staff nowhere to be found, leaving the two players stranded just hours after their first appearance for the Parisians.
One member of the hotel staff stepped in to help and open the doors, without any luck at first. His solution was an unusual one. He found a side door next to the main entrance and opened it so Torres and Godts could finally get in, all while the supporters kept following and filming.
Hours before the lockout, Torres had stolen the spotlight with a dream start to life at Paris Saint-Germain. Introduced in the second half in place of Ousmane Dembélé, he struck twice to hand his side a precious point after they had trailed 2-0.
Fabián Ruiz set up both goals, and the Spaniard was quickly the talk of Paris. From his very first appearance, Torres showed he can leave his mark in the French club's shirt following a move from Barcelona worth around 50 million euros on a five-year deal.
He wasn't the only newcomer to make a first outing. Belgium's Mika Godts also pulled on the PSG shirt for the first time after arriving from Ajax, in a deal of almost identical value and length at five seasons.
