AC Milan face an important day of negotiations with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Man Utd sign Lindelof for €40m

The 18-year-old has indicated that he is prepared to play hard ball over discussions on his future and has refused to sign an extension with the San Siro club, with his current deal up in 2018. Milan have retaliated by suggesting he could spend the next season in the stands.

However, the two parties are to meet a Casa Milan on Thursday in an attempt to come to an understanding, with the Serie A giants represented by Massimiliano Mirabelli and the keeper by agent Mino Raiola, and there is a suggestion that the club’s stance on the deal could soften.

Donnarumma, who has said his wish is to remain at the club, is set to be offered terms of €4.5 million per year before bonuses, while the Rossoneri are also willing to put a release clause into his contract.

Milan, meanwhile, are cautiously optimistic a deal can be concluded, though they had expected a far quicker resolution to this case, which has not arrived.

Should these talks breakdown, the chances of an even greater arm wrestle will be increased and the prospect of Donnarumma departing will be even greater.

As such, Milan have been monitoring other goalkeepers, with Neto and Pepe Reina monitored, even if the idea is still to make Donnarumma an icon of the club.
