A long ball punted forward by United confused the City backline in the FA Cup final's first half, and Ortega burst out of his goal to try to claim. Gvardiol was seemingly unaware of his goalkeeper's presence and headed the ball over his head, allowing Garnacho to nip in and score.

Ortega has played in every single FA Cup game for City this season, keeping four clean sheets, although he did concede twice in a 6-2 win over Luton in the fifth round. He may well have played in the final, then, even if Ederson had been fit.

United will aim to press home their advantage. They headed into half-time 2-0 up, as Kobbie Mainoo extended the club's lead at Wembley before the interval.
