Victor Osimhen's friend & Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel reveals striker's transfer preference as Man Utd baulk at wage demands

Prolific frontman Osimhen has seen a move to England speculated on for some time. A switch to Stamford Bridge was reportedly discussed during the summer of 2024, only for a loan deal to eventually be struck with Galatasaray.

Osimhen has maintained stunning individual standards in Turkey, with 31 goals being recorded through 36 appearances, and Napoli are expected to sanction a permanent transfer in the next window.

Chelsea remain in the hunt for a proven No.9, as questions are asked of Nicolas Jackson, and Blues legend Mikel has told beIN Sports of Osimhen’s supposed preference: “He wants to play for Chelsea. I hope [he’ll be playing] somewhere in the Premier League.

“I know where we stopped in terms of the contract, I know where we are. It’s an easy fix, because we’ve done all the hard work last summer. It’s so easy to just pick it up and then the deal is done.

“This guy does what he does best, scores goals, and that’s what we’ve lacked this season. We don’t score enough, and that’s why we’re where we are today. With Osimhen, that’s what he does.”

Manchester United were said to be exploring a deal for Osimhen, with talks opened between the Red Devils and his representatives. Those discussions have, according to GIVEMESPORT, broken down.

That is because United are reluctant to meet Osimhen’s £300,000-a-week wage demands. They were prepared to pay around £65 million ($87m) for the 26-year-old, but will now focus on alternative options - such as Ipswich forward Liam Delap.
