  • WHAT HAPPENED?

U.S. international Tyler Adams logged 90 minutes on Saturday as Bournemouth shocked Arsenal 2-1 in the English Premier League. After England international Declan Rice gave the Gunners a halftime lead with a 34th-minute goal, the Cherries scored twice late to secure all three points.

The first, a header from defender Dean Huijsen, leveled the match in the 67th minute as the Spanish international found the back of the net off a long throw-in from Antoine Semenyo. Then, Brazilian forward Evanilson found the back of the net off a deflected touch of the ball on the back post for the winner.

Adams played in a double-pivot and featured for the entire match for the fourth time in their last five games.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

It wasn't the flashiest of showings for Adams, but he helped get the job done. Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli kept the Cherries midfield and defense busy, while the England international really caused the American some issues in and around the box.

Centrally, though, Adams was composed, completing 95 percent of his passes while registering 59 touches on the ball.

With the three points, the Cherries move up to eighth in the Premier League standings on 53 points as they aim to keep their dream of playing European soccer next season alive.
